History of Khumex

Our Khumex team has been involved in the poultry industry for many years. Company owner Jan Hummel has been surrounded by chicken since he was a little boy. It was his father, Auke, who cleared the path for mainland exporters of chicken products to the United Kingdom. A true pioneer in the field of poultry export, Auke was the first to sell Dutch chicken abroad. Jan followed in his father’s footsteps and expanded the network all over Europe. After working for various employers in the field, Jan formed his own company is 2000, Hummel Poultry Products. Auke of course joined and the family business soon flourished with two production units producing about 400 mt per week of fresh and frozen chicken breast fillets and chicken thigh meat.

In 2003, Ramonda came on board to join the Hummel sales team and Jan and Ramonda further expanded the trade and import side of the company.

When sales were split from production present-day Khumex was founded. The business was then run from a modest facility in Nijkerk. Thanks to the support of our loyal partners, we were able to keep continue to grow. Johny soon joined the team to keep up with all the paperwork. Also our business relations with KG Group kept growing stronger which resulted in the formation of a joint venture; KG Khumex.
